Martha Cecilia Dietrich

Visuelle Anthropologie und Medienanthropologie mit starkem praktischen Bezug zu Lateinamerika sind meine Schwerpunkte. Längere Aufenthalte und Feldforschungen in Argentinien, Perú und Venezuela prägten meine Erfahrungen in diesen Regionen.
Ausbildung: Lehrgang für höhere Lateinamerika Studien am LAI (2006), Studium der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie an der Universität Wien (2008), MA in Visual Anthropology (Ethnographic Documentary and Sensory Media) an der Manchester University (2009)

Sprachen: Deutsch, Spanisch, Englisch und Portugiesisch.
Zu den persönlichen Schätzen meines Wesens zähle ich Verlässlichkeit, Teamfähigkeit und grenzenlose Neugier.

Andreas Gmeiner

Born in Vienna 1979. Civil Service at the Organisation Arbeiter Samariterbund in 1999. University degree as a Social Anthropologist, finishing a combination Study of International Development, a variety of lectures at the University of Vienna and at the University of Applied Arts. Working fields: Assistance at an educational and art projekt with favela kids in Recife, Brasil (2005); Implementation of a social campaign fort he Organisation Kinderfreunde Austria (2006). Field research and documentations on the topics: action art in public places, Situationism, Migration and Religion, Minority rights, Water and Health, Springwater in Austria. Contact:

Martin Alois Luger

Born 1978 in St.Pölten.
Studied Cultural and Social Anthropology and Philosophy in Vienna with special interests in Cyberanthropology, Cognitive Science and Medical Anthropology.

Feldenkrais practitioner since Feb. 2009, currently in training to become a psychotherapist.
He is working on his dissertation about triune rhetoric in ritual, psychotherapy and cyberspace.

Gregor Jakob

Born 1979 in Linz (Austria), he studied social and cultural Anthropology along with international development studies, anthropology of law as well as media studies. Lecturer at the department of social and cultural anthropology. His main focus in recent research is in the strategies of everyday praxis within the field of NGOs and Social Movements as well as gender studies. The main regional focus is within northern India. Besides he is involving himself in radio journalism.

Julia Bartl

Born in Munich 1983. Studied social and cultural anthropology and oriental studies in Vienna. European MA in anthropology (Vienna, Stockholm). Longer travels to South-East Asia and language courses in Morocco (2006) and Syria (2007). Internship at the Museum of Ethnology in Vienna (2007).
Research interests: migration and transnational studies, minorities/majorities, identities, peace- and conflict studies, power distribution, social equality. Regional interest: Europe, Middle East.

Sabrina Kopf

Born 1982 in Vienna. She has studied social and cultural anthropology in combination with GFL (German as Foreign Language) at the University of Vienna. She has further completed study visits and has done field research in Sweden, Slovakia and Cyprus. Work experience as project manager at the Viennese Integration Bureau. Her research interests are political anthropology, postsocialism, migration, ethnicity and minority studies with a regional focus on Eastern and South Eastern Europe.

Kerstin Tiefenbacher

Arbeitet im Österreichischen Lateinamerika Institut an einem EU- Projekt zum Ausbau der Forschungskooperation zwischen Lateinamerika und Europa (LAC ACCESS). Ihr regionales Interesse gilt vor allem Brasilien, inhaltlich beschäftigt sie sich mit den Themen der Medical Anthropology, den Gender Studies und der Feministischen Anthropologie. Neben ihrem Forschungsinteresse hat sie aber auch eine Vorliebe für organisatorische und administrative Arbeit (Projektmanagement). Kontakt:

MASN - Austria is a center of excellence and networking office for culture and social anthropological innovations and projects which was founded in 2005. It originates from the Moving Anthropology Student/Social Network initiated in Vienna which aims to connect young anthropologists on an international level.
Associates of MASN - Austria work empirically, solution oriented and relevant to present times.

Associates of the centre command regional, linguistic and disciplinary skills in several fields, as in migration and integration, globalisation, law & anthropology, gender studies, visual anthropology, medical anthropology, consciousness studies, business and organisational anthropology, development cooperation, as well as peace work, research on conflict and violence.

4. MASN Coordination Meeting 2009

Vom 11.-13. Dezember fand das mittlerweile 4. internationale MASN Coordinationmeeting in Wien statt.
In zweieinhalbtägigen Workshops wurde die Gegenwart und Zukunft des MASN Netzwerkes von über 20 Akteuren aus dem In- und Ausland diskutiert.

Bewegte Wissenschaft im Gespräch
TALKING ANTHROPOLOGY ist eine monatliche Diskussionsrunde, in der Projekte, Arbeiten, aktuelle Themen, Aktionen und Forschungen einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt werden können. Ziel ist es, anthropologischen Inhalten und Fragestellungen ein lebendiges Forum außerhalb der Universität zu bieten, den Austausch von Ideen und Meinungen wie die Vernetzung von (Jung-)ForscherInnen, StudentInnen und Interessierten zu fördern. Im Vordergrund steht die interdisziplinäre Vermittlung von anthropologischen Themen für ein neugieriges Publikum und die Debatte um gemeinsame Anwendungshinterfragung, außeruniversitäre Verwertbarkeit und gesellschaftliche Relevanz der Disziplin.

Der Podcast Talking Anthropology verfolgt das Ziel anthropologische Themen einer breiten Basis an Menschen näher zu bringen.

Dazu werden Gespräche zwischen ExpertInnen und dem Moderator aufgezeichnet und im Internet frei zur Verfügung gestellt.
Der Themenauswahl liegt ein breites Verständnis von Anthropologie zu Grunde, in dem theoretische Grundlagen und praktische Anwendungen vorkommen sollen.

Workshop “offene Anthropologie” an den Tagen der KSA, am Freitag, den 24. April 2009, Hs. C:

Einer vielfältigen, dynamischen und interdisziplinären Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie soll hier die Lanze gebrochen
werden: Anthropologie als Paralleluniversum, dunkler Wald, tiefe Höhle, unbeschrittener Pfad, oder als
offenes Feld.
Die transpersonale, also persönliche Grenzen überschreitende Kommunikabilität impliziter und expliziter Erfahrungsdimensionen
innerhalb der im Workshop behandelten Fragestellungen und Projekte wird speziell unter
die Lupe genommen. Damit einhergehend steht die Motivation an der Vermittlung von anthropologischen
Themen und deren Relevanz für eine Wissensgesellschaft zu Beginn des dritten Jahrtausends und die Debatte
um Anwendungsmöglichkeit und inner- wie außeruniversitäre Verwertbarkeit der eigenen Forschungsanstrengungen
und -ergebnisse im Raum. Wie verwirklicht und entfaltet sich eine zeitgemäße, praxisrelevante und
offene Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie, was sind ihre größten Chancen, was ihre größten Hemmnisse?

Der Workshop nimmt direkten Bezug auf die von MASN - Austria organisierte Vortragsreihe “Talking Anthropology”.

From 4th to 9th of May the 5th MASN Conference with the title ‘EMPOWERING ANTHROPOLOGY’ will take place in Siena (Italy). The main topics of this conference are political anthropology, urban anthropology and anthropology of the body.

MASN Conferences are international gatherings for students and young academics, organised by local teams who open up space for interaction, networking and exchange of papers, workshops, ideas, projects and visions. All students and young academics interested in social and cultural anthropology, are welcome to take part!
